However, the carefree happiness that most children experience has not always come as easily for Brittany. At the age of two, she was burned in a house fire. The fire left her with third degree burns and a seventy five percent hair loss. In 1994 and again in 1995, the Shriners provided the funds for the surgeries she needed to repair damage caused to her body during the fire. There was, however, another part of Brittany that could not be replaced by surgery-her hair.

Brittany's Mother, Carla Connell, was referred to LA Hair Replacement Center in Auburn, Alabama. When she came to the center, she was wearing an ill fitting hair piece that was made for a man. Owner, Linda Arnold, fit her with a prosthesis that was made specifically for Brittany. When she was presented with her new hair, Brittany responded by saying "This is prettier than I thought it would be."

Mrs. Arnold states these kind of cases make a job worth while. This is more of a ministry than a job because it changes people's lives in a positive manner.
